In facing 21 batters, De Leon threw 48 pitches with a pinpoint of 44 (91%) going for strikes. Relievers Andy Maldonado, Zach Muckenhirn, and Fernando Cruz join together for three scoreless innings of no-hit ball with no walks and three strikeouts to preserve the shutout and secure victory. Caguas, playing in their first game since Jan. 7, waste no time getting ahead of the competition. League MVP and Mets farmhand Johneshwy Fargas leads off the home first with a double, and center fielder Jarren Duran draws a walk. Designated hitter Yadier Molina follows with a triple, then scored on a fielder's choice for an instant 3-0 lead. Catcher Jonathan Morales drives in Los Criollos fourth run with a sac-fly in the eight en route to a 4-0 whitewashing of Mayagüez. Indios starter Hector Hernandez yields three runs on six hits and four walks with four strikeouts in a seven-inning losing effort.
