The much-anticipated series between Mayagüez and Caguas commences Thursday. Joining Los Criollos will be All-Star catcher Yadier Molina selected from Manatí in the draw from eliminated teams, and catcher/first baseman Victor Caratini who was reactivated to the roster. Los Indios will be reinforced by New York Mets farmhand and southpaw Joel Huertas selected from RA12. Los Criollos finished the regular season first overall, with Los Indios finishing just one game behind. The two teams split their regular-season series at three wins apiece. Both Caguas and Mayagüez are founding members of LBPRC, established in 1938. Los Indios last won the championship in 2014, while Los Criollos last clinched back-to-back titles during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Both teams are tied for most league championships with eighteen flags each. The winner of this series will become the LBPRC all-time leader in titles.
