From the desk: DEM BARNSTORMERS & THE DONALDSON NETWORK
On Sunday, September 8, 1918, the Brooklyn Royal Giants were booked for a rematch game against the Morse Dry Dock Team at Morse Oval along the Brooklyn waterfront at 52nd Street and Second Avenue.
The first game of a doubleheader was scheduled to start at 1:30 pm. In what would have been John Donaldson's second actual visit to Kings County, an account of the game(s) is yet to be discovered. My assumption is the games were rained out.
In poor weather conditions earlier that same morning, the Morse Dry Dock Team needed extra innings to defeat Glendale at Farmer's Oval in nearby Queens.
Afterwhich was perhaps when Jupiter Pluvius decided to call it a day.
