From the desk: DEM BARNSTORMERS & THE DONALDSON NETWORK
On Monday, July 15, 1918, in a rather commanding manner, the Brooklyn Royal Giants seize the opening game of a three-game series against the Atlantic City Bacharach Giants.
Brooklyn arrives in Atlantic City fresh off Sunday's twin bill split with Bushwick at Dexter Park. Meanwhile, the Bacharach Giants are coming off a tightly contested 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Hog Island shipbuilders team, who manufactured the winning run in the ninth inning at Bacharach Park.

Starting for Brooklyn, Oliver Hendricks(?) limits Atlantic City to just two runs on ten hits for the win. Meanwhile, the Royal Giants strike for 13 runs on 17 hits against Bacharach hurler Henry Howell. Shortstop John Henry Lloyd leads Brooklyn with four hits, third baseman Oliver Marcell wields three hits with three runs scored, and left fielder Johnny Pugh posts two hits and scored twice.
Having pitched Sunday in game one against Bushwick then playing left field in game two at Dexter Park, John Donaldson does not participate in Monday's contest against the Bacharach Giants. He is slated to twirl for the Royals on Tuesday.
