N.Y. METS ~ The Tom Seaver Trade; Then and Now

NEW YORK METS:  A Happy Anniversary Out Of Left Field.

Today, Met Fans across METropolis commemorate the 34th anniversary of the day Tom Seaver was traded to the Cincinnati Reds.

In exchange for The Franchise, the Mets received Doug Flynn; Pat Zachry; Dan Norman; and a young left fielder named Steve Henderson; considered at the time to be the Reds' crown jewel.

Steve played 99 games for the Mets in 1977. 
In 350 at-bats that season:
67 ~ runs.
104 ~ hits.
16 ~ doubles.
6 ~ triples.
12 ~ home runs.
65 ~ rbi.
6 ~ stolen bases.
.480 ~ slugging avg..
.297 ~ batting avg.



Jason Bay has now played in 137 games for the New York Mets over two seasons.
In his 498 at-bats in a Met uniform:

24 ~ doubles.
6 ~ triples.

14 ~ stolen bases.
