From the desk of: THE BROOKLYN BAKERS NINE

First place Indianapolis Hoosiers Exit Brooklyn With Eight Game Lead Over Tip Tops.  Second Place Chicago ChiFeds Just One Game Out.
With a run in the top of the eighth, Indianapolis breaks a four all tie Friday afternoon at Washington Park.  Brooklyn is swept by the Hoosiers, again.  Make that twelve straight losses against the Indianapolis Hoosiers dating back to the final day of July.  Although 22 games remain in this regular season, Brooklyn's inaugural Federal League campaign seems all but over.  With Friday's defeat the fifth place Tip Tops (67-65) fall eight games out of first place.

Modecai Brown is not the difference maker Brooklyn anticipated upon his acquisition.  The 37-year old yields all five Indianapolis runs on twelve hits and four walks with three strikeouts en route to his tenth loss of the season.  Through four appearances with the Tip Tops Modecai has allowed twelve runs in 22.1 innings pitched for a 4.89 ERA.
