OTD 9/17/1914: Brooklyn Tip Tops Lose Fourth Straight Against Hoosiers

From the desk of: THE BROOKLYN BAKERS NINE

Indianapolis Hoosiers
vs.
Brooklyn Tip Tops
FROM
WASHINGTON PARK

A still hopeful crowd at Washington Park is promptly stricken with dismay when Indianapolis jumps out to a four run lead on three hits and a walk in the first inning against their ace Tom Seaton whom does not return for the second.  After the Hoosiers take a five run lead in the second, Brooklyn rallies for two in the bottom of the fifth and another in the fifth, closing their deficit to two.  However Indianapolis puts the game out of reach with two more runs in the eighth.  Brooklyn answers in the bottom of the frame with two runs of their own.  But its too little too late, as the Indianapolis Hoosiers win by a 7-5 final, and take their fourth straight from the Tip Tops.  Brooklyn falls to 67-64 for the season and are now seven games out of first with 23 games left in the season.  Their losing streak against the Hoosiers now stands at eleven games.  Manager Bradley must be beside himself.
