N.Y. Jets ~ Living in a Big Blue Town

From the desk of:   DO IT FOR THE DUKE  D-GENERATION REX

NEW YORK JETS:   The Aftermath; Through the Eyes of a Giant Fan.

It's not easy being Gang Green.  Saturday's woeful loss will be pondered till Spring.  This loss was black; grey; bleak; dark; and many more sinister and colorful descriptive words like that....

That was the extent of my fun.  I am a Giants Fan just so you know.  In light of Rex Ryan's Super Bowl aspirations; and his Big Brother/Little Brother jive; and This is a Jets Town nonsense; and even his on-field exchange with Brandon Jacobs; and faced with the temptation to completely lambaste Rex the charlatan and the sycophants who picked up on his mantra and ran with it, I respectfully pass the opportunity to amuse myself even with so much material to work with.  I actually like Rex.  He's refreshing.  And I don't particularly enjoy watching him have to worm away from something he might have said.

I'll just say this.  To a man, Saturday's game was a lesson in humility.  One team's Head Coach needs some.  The other team's Head Coach preaches it.  Yet both are good coaches.  Maybe I'm out of context - in that perhaps what I choose to instill in my son, shouldn't apply to football players or coaches.  So on a Fan level then, I guess I'm talking to some of you.  I'm trying to run a semi-clean shop here; save for the sporadic light yet loose language.  So I think this is as far as I'll go with this inner-city Giants/Jets rivalry amongst US fans.

Let's talk football.  That I can do very fairly.  Because if left to talk about what only really amounts to a few of you, I'd lose a level of decorum I try to maintain here.

*     *     *     *     *

For here's the reality of the situation.  The Giants did what they needed to do in order to win.  But the Jets did everything possible to lose.  Credit ten penalties, three turnovers, and an Offensive Line that allowed Sanchez to get sacked five times for aiding and abetting an embarrassing loss.  That's what should be near the top of every Jet Fan's short lists regarding what went wrong Saturday afternoon.

Then there are two matters specifically that should top the list.  Two things failed the Jets miserably Saturday.  First, someone came up with a horrible offensive game plan.  And secondly, that same  person failed to realize his plan was a hot mess, while also failing to revert to what the Jets do best in recognition of that fact.  Why on earth did Coach Schotty get as far away from the running game as he did and ask Marc Sanchez to throw the ball fifty-nine times?  I know Jet Fans wanted their Offensive Coordinator to ease up on Sanchez' leash.  But what Schotty designed Saturday was no doubt the capstone on his body of work as the Jets' offensive play caller.  For surely once the off-season descends upon Jet-Life Stadium, his work here is done.

The Jets Defense held the Giants to fifty-nine plays from scrimmage.  The Defense gave Brian Schottenheimer every opportunity to possess the ball for thirty-six minutes and run eighty-nine plays from scrimmage.  Yet the Giants ended the day with 332 total yards while the Jets came in at 331 total yards from scrimmage.  That's a bizarre stat by any stretch.

Coach Schottenheimer took a page right out of Kevin Gilbride's playbook.  He asked Marc Sanchez to throw fifty-nine times (which is obscene even by Gilbride's standards) and only called on Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson nineteen times.  Together they gained eighty-seven yards and averaged 4.95 yards per carry.  In a game that remained 10-3 up until the Giants scored with 0:13 left in the third quarter, there was no reason to drop Sanchez pack to pass time and time again; not when the Offensive Line couldn't protect him; and certainly not after showing success running the ball.

Only after having said all that should you Jet Fans admit that quite simply, Marc Sanchez was not up to the task.  He started out strong and finished badly.  At times it seemed as if he was throwing the ball into the twilight zone.  Marc Sanchez got sacked five times.  On two of those however, Marc had receivers open and pumped, but held on to the ball way too long causing a sack.  Then there is the math of his game. Yes, he threw up fifty-nine passes.  He completed thirty of them, but for only 258 yards?  Is that all thirty completions get you these days?  Look at the Offensive Coordinator for an answer to that.  To say his play calling was suspect is being kind.  And lest we forget the Jets' first touchdown came as a result of the Giants having twelve men on the field which kept the Jets' drive going.

But don't go dumping on Sanchez too badly.  There was a much better way to attack the Giants Defense.  And in coaches speak, Schotty didn't put his quarterback, or his offense, in a position to win.

N.Y. JETS ~ Operation FOOT STOMP; It's Go Time!

JETS WIN!  Take One:

Look!  Up In The Sky!!  Run for your LIVES!!!
The Same ol' JETS ARE COMING!

Foxborough; Boston; Massachusetts; New England; The North East; Western Civilization.....They were all ready, and in position, just like last time in Week 13.

And just like last time, superior leadership was supposed to rule the day...Again.  But, Failure to Prepare is Preparing to Fail; - And so it is that Patriot One is the ultimate task Master and is famous for always having his Modern Day Minutemen in the highest states of preparedness.

Simon Bar Sinister prepared his men to inflict the same kind of 15 to 1 casualty rates (45-3 blow-out) that devastated their opponent and had them bleeding GREEN in the aftermath of the most recent failed attempt to blot out Patriot skies.  A tattered and battered JETS Squadron barely made it back to WOODY A.F. Base.

Once again, the Minute Men were ready.....But this time, for Rex's Revenge.

But, the element of surprise was gone.  Patriot Intel picked-up and heard every transmission emanating out of New York City (and their big mouths).  New England knew exactly when they'd be arriving down to the day; hour; and minute.

Patriot One; the Master Planner, assured everyone, Foxborough would remain as safe as it always was.  Many a foe have tried to break the Walls of Foxborough, and failed.  Most, if not all denizens of Massachusetts felt secure in the thought this was to be the latest attempt that would fall short of it's mission.  His men, companions and fans alike, all felt and fed off the rock-hard confidence of their stoic leader.  So, with all his pieces in place, plans and details checked..., re-checked, and morale high, the leader of Patriot Force ordered radio silence, then shut-off the lights to the city, and waited.  The trap was set.  Soon, the RAT Coach would be drawn to his beloved cheeseburger and.....

Shortly after dusk, the calm of the early night was broken.  The first faint rumble of approaching JETS could be heard far off in the distance.  "Steady!"...ordered Patriot One.

The rumbling in the sky intensified; louder.   Then... A Slip and a Blip!

Wes Welker keyed a mike!  Oh My!  He broke Patriot One's direct order and their positions had no doubt been compromised at that moment because of it.  "SILENCE!" Patriot One ordered again.

Gasp!

Everything remained still on the ground as the skies started to thunder overhead.  From the darkness above, fortune cookie sized notes attached to little Green parachutes began to rain down on Foxborough.

Every little GREEN parachute dropped the same message for everybody on the field, in the stands and Sports Bars across New England.  It said:

"Eat Me!" -  with Love, Caring and Affection ~ Coach REX BLUTARSKY.

With his positions revealed and now having to play his hand, Patriot One ordered the search lights on and pointed skyward.  Foxborough collectively screamed with horror as they caught sight of what was headed their way.  Directly over head, and where ever they pointed a light; - for as far as New Englanders could or could not see in the Massachusetts Night, there was wave after wave and formation upon formation of NEW Fearsome, Hulking, Angry-looking, belching, Big GREEN Bombers, retro-fitted and re-armed with a Smarter Plan, Renewed Confidence, Intelligent Brutality, and Destiny seemingly on their side.  Eeek!

Frightened, terrified, and in a panic, the fans inside Foxborough made furious scrambles towards all exits and into the parking lots, tripping over eachother trying to get back to the shelter of their homes.  Most of them deserted their team and left them to get bombarded alone.  Sports Bars furiously got patrons and fans to help board-up windows and doors.

Meanwhile..., Up Above:

REX ~ Iron Bird...this is Big GREEN.  I got a Blip.  You're free to commence Operation Foot Stomp on your mark.  It's time to squash some bugs.

SCHOTTY ~ Roger that GREEN ~ TiTan One this is Iron Bird, come in TiTan One...over.

SANCHEZ ~ TiTan One...over.

SCHOTTY ~ Operation Foot Stomp is a Go.  Squash Bugs; I repeat, Squash Bugs is Go.

SANCHEZ ~ Wilco..Foot Stomp.  All TITANS....TiTan One;  IT'S GO TIME!!  On My MARK!

And with that folks, the payload doors opened and REX dropped a game plan Bill Belichick was thoroughly unprepared to defend against.  The JETS Defense blew up the Patriots Offensive Line and the line of scrimmage, to include the Pats' running game, and Tom Brady's entire game.  Five sacks hit their intended target.  Mark Sanchez launched lethal strike after lethal strike against the Patriots' Secondary with nearly 65% accuracy, highlighted by three crushing precision hits that went for touchdowns.  An interception, a respectable running game and some very remarkable Receiver work with huge catches and romping Y-A-Cs (see Braylon Edwards) were all part of the Weapons-of-Pats-Destruction used against New England.

SANCHEZ ~ Iron Bird,  this is TiTan One;  if it wiggled, we got it.  Clean-up on isle nine.  We have a Condition GREEN.  Over.

SCHOTTY ~ Roger, TiTan One.  Good job.  Return to base.  Big GREEN; Iron Bird One....the message has been delivered.  We're headed home.

REX ~ This is Big GREEN, Copy that!  They're keeping dinner warm for you at the Hanger.  Out.

REX ~ POUND 1; GROUND 6 ~ Sit-Rep...Over!  Talk to Daddy.

S.ELLIS ~ GROUND 6...Blue Sideline secured sir!
S.GREENE ~ POUND 1 here....The Flag is in the Ground.  The field is ours.  Small pack of  Patriots headed toward open end of Stadium.

REX ~ Let 'em go Boys.  Today is their lucky day.  Great work; Smoke 'em if you got 'em!  See you back home.  Big Daddy out.

...And then, they were gone;  headed back to Delta House.  What they left behind was payback for revoking their charter; taking the bar, and all the stuff they didn't steal BUT MOST of all, for the beating in the Motel Room.

Back at Foxborough, the next morning was too soon.  Confidence that usually accompanies sunrise after an evening of devastation and destruction, stayed hidden in a closet or underneath a bed, shaking through-out the day.  Over twenty four hours have passed, and the denizens of Massachusetts and greater New England are only now starting to peek out from behind their shuttered windows; barricaded doors; fortified Man-Caves; and boarded-up Sports Pubs.  They waited a full day plus, to walk out in the open and survey the damage of Sunday night's N.Y. JETS raid.

For Simon Bar Sinister; a.k.a. - Patriot One - Bill Belichick, and his young team of Minute Men, it's back to the Lab to keep working on the reconfiguration of the Patriots.  For them, this rebuilding season was thrown off track by a Division Title.  And whether you want to hear it in the midst of a celebratory time for Jets fans or not, Bill Belichick will take all those draft picks he accumulated by trading away solid veteran starters and build himself a new dynasty for Tom Brady to end his career with.  He'll be back, just like the JETS came back.  The Patriots' season was all about Belichick getting every last spoon-full out of his New England bowl of young Chowdah' Heads.  But this was all they had left and it wasn't enough.  After playing three games against each other, once and for all, the Jets clearly showed they had more and were the better team of the two.  Nuff' Ced!

Coach Rex didn't just win the day like he said he would.  He wrecked it, piled the rubble high and plopped a big N.Y. JETS  flag on it.  And so, in the Battles of the PIGSKIN Wars, to the Victor, the Spoils.

Back at the Hangar, everybody made it back home safe.  The Victory Party was in full swing.  Mrs. Blutarsky was there to greet her Big GREEN Hero with a giant hug and a bigger victory kiss.  They, and all the fly-boys, ground crews, coordinators, players, Woody and their Best Gals, clicked their heals, put their best foot foward and danced, drank and Drifted the Night Away.

What's between Rex and his wife, is between Rex and his Wife!  Who's laughing now?

Roger That!  Mission accomplished.  Out.

Bwahahaha!  BWahahahahaha!

N.Y.JETS ~ Rex's Plan Calls For Brute Force & Ignorance

NEW YORK JETS:  Will The Real J-E-T-S Please Stand Up?!

I THINK COACH REX FINALLY HAD IT WITH "SCHOTTY"

COACH BLUTARSKY can actually win using brute force and ignorance.  It's Brilliant!

MINUS - The Jets almost lost that game to the Colts as a result of two critical Offensive Three-and-Outs in the fourth quarter.  If they had secured one first-down prior to getting a "gift" Roughing The Kicker penalty, or one first-down on the new set of downs directly following the Roughing The Kicker penalty, an exchange of last second field goals would never have been necessary.

PLUS - The Jets can look back and be proud of two sustained, clock controlling second half drives that utilized the run, ending in LaDainian Tomlinson touchdowns as being key reasons why they were in a position to win the game.  They utilized a team strength and ran the ball behind the blocking of a strong Offensive Line and the running of LT and Shonn Greene to keep Peyton Manning off the field, the ball out of his hands, and the score manageable.

PLUS - The Jets hosted the Patriots back in Week 2 and beat Tom Brady and
his crew 28-14.  The Jets got pressure on Brady and intercepted him.

MINUS - The Jets went to Foxborough to play the Patriots in Week 13
and got destroyed 45-3.

You get my drift right?  Which ever way you spin this, you're left with the same quandary;
Will the real Gang Green please stand up?!

I don't think you can ever forget the 45-3 thrashing up in Foxborough if you're the Jets, the Coach, or a fan; certainly not in 2010-2011.  For the rest of "our" lives, the Media will always refer to that game, like any other, when they want to prove a point.  You can still put it out of your mind though, or focus on something else.  Living in the moment helps, and having selective memory can be huge.

But what do you say we try using this; PERSPECTIVE..?  Or what do you say we try and gain some back..Hmm?

These teams are 2-2 against each other over the last two seasons.  The last game is freshest in our minds.  That's it.  What we really have is four games of Brady; Belichick; Sanchez; and REX all together.  Therefore, four games is much more representative of this match-up than one blow-out is.

Let's face it, Coach Rex made a huge mistake last game when he tried to fool Coach Belichick by going with a No-Huddle Offense to start the game.  You don't do that to Belichick.  He can see that coming with his eyes shut.  Rex knows he blew it.  He said his whole plan was flawed and didn't realize it till too late.  We are going to assume the Jets have learned from that.  That was just a game where the Jets got behind too early and by too many points.  Everything after that is a deluge while the other guys own the high ground.  That's why games like that ARE forgettable.

The first half against the Colts was forgettable also.  That's why REX's 2nd half epiphany was not only timely, it was long over-due!  But luckily, it happened just in time to face the Patriots.  Rex finally listened to the voices in his head rather listening to himself talk, long enough to understand his Offensive Line was not only capable of pushing the Colts' Defensive front around, but that it can push New England's Front around too.

Why did it finally hit Coach Rex during half-time of the Colts game?  ...That the Jets should actually be Grounding and Pounding instead of just talking about it?

ANSWER:  Fear trumped respect.  That's why.

I offer you TWO REASONS:
1) - Rex was just letting Coach Schottenheimer do his job.
2) - Rex finally got tired of letting Coach Schottenheimer do a bad job.

There's no doubt in my mind with thirty minutes left before the JET REXplosion was about to detonate, Coach took his destiny into his own hands and readjusted Coach Schottenheimer's thought process...if you get my drift.  I think from this moment forward, Coach Schottenheimer's discretion will be on a very sort leash.

The Patriots score points like Pinball Wizards.  The less time they spend on the field, the less points they'll score; naturally.  But if I were Rex, I'd steal a page right out of Coach Belichick's handbook.  Disguise the rush and send only two and three at a time.  Dare him to run the ball and with eight defenders back,  punish the receivers into painful submission.  That's what Belichick did to the Bills in SB-XXV.  Tom Brady isn't going anywhere.  He won't scramble much at all just like Jim Kelly didn't.  The Jets' pass rush hasn't been there for them this season.  So why not take out their anger on the next best thing; Brady's receivers.  That's what I'm thinking Rex.

At a minimum, Rex needs to make any and all crossing patterns end with an obscene collision.  Coach Belickick and Tom Brady attacked the Jets Defensive belly and couldn't take the body blow.  If the Jets can keep tabs on the slot receivers and tight-ends better than they did last time, they'll be OK.

Coach Rex is fully in charge now.  Schotty is just along for the ride now.  He's not going to let Coach Schottenheimer tip-toe his way through this one.  Rex is just telling his guys to line up and see who's stronger.  That's a game plan that Coach Belichick may not even be able to out-coach.  What do you tell a Defensive Linemen when he's getting manhandled?

There-in lies the Jets chance against the Patriots this weekend; brute force and ignorance.

Rex is tired of his Offensive players having to shift, break out protractors and T-squares to execute a Schotty designed play.  Rex just wants his guys to go out there and beat the man in front of you.

Brute force and ignorance;  Don't laugh.  It just might be brilliant.  Coach Blutarsky hasn't been through seven years of college for nothin' ya know.?!

N.Y. JETS ~ SHOUT!! "Flying High Again"

NEW YORK JETS FOOTBALL:
A Little Bit Louder Now....SHOUT!
A Little Bit Louder Now....SHOUT!
A Little Bit Louder Now....SHOUT!

"I Gave... My Love.... A Cherry.....,"

**(Coach REX Blutarsky smashes guitar symbolic of last two weeks...here)**

"NOW....Waaaait a Minute!

Ya been so good to me!
I said ya been so good to me!

You Just Make Me Wanna...SHOUT!
Throw My Hands Up And...SHOUT!

Say That You Want Me!  Say That You Need Me!  Say That You Love Me!
C'Mon Now!   Saaaaay You Will!
Because You Make Me Wanna...SHOUT!
SHOUT!"

*If you don't know what I'm getting at, read my Jets/Steelers preview:
http://thebrooklyntrolleyblogger.blogspot.com/2010/12/pigskin-week-15-ny-jets-toga-party.html

Sure they took their liberties with a few guests....but Man! - That was some Party huh?

Not only are Coach REX Blutarsky and the Green Gang from Delta House not getting expelled for throwing their season long Toga Party, they got away with going to Pittsburgh AND ruining the Home-Coming Parade too!

After Coach HOOVER Schottenheimer assumed his position by the mail-box and everyone was in place, first, the Black Smoke appeared in the distance as a kick-off returned for a touchdown startled the crowd. Then the Red Smoke miffed everybody with a naked-Bootleg.  Finally, the Jets' Defense poured out their 10,000 marbles all over the field and had the Steel City Marching Band tripping over themselves in their own end-zone which resulted in the Jets scoring on a safety.

Coach REX Blutarsky and his Green Gang from DELTA HOUSE drove their Home Coming Float into Pittsburgh and hijacked a game no one thought they had any business winning from the Terrible Steel City Hard Hats.  And they did it with one message in mind for all the naysayers; Eat Me, in pretty red and white flowered script.

C'mon Jet fans, didn't you wanna jump up and yell out, "Oh Boy!  This is Great!" ?

Coach Blutarsky once decreed there's only one way to pledge yourself into REX House, and that it didn't involve standing around in your underwear getting butt-paddled by guys in hoods while having to ask for more.  Coach doesn't like any kind of "Standing around Shitht!"   Instead, all Coach wants to know is if you're following him when he roars and runs out the door on his way to chase down glory.

N.Y.  J - E - T - S  ~  FLYING HIGH AGAIN!

Bill Belichick took aim at REX's formation of Green Bombers and all but shot them out of the sky.  Those Jets remaining with functional wings and an engine or two barely made it back to base.  The remaining ground wreckage was left for REX to collect and haul-back to NYC on a flat-bed.  Back at the Hangar, Rex tried readying his Green Baby to fly again.  But she crash immediately after take-off against Miami.

Coach Rex is many things and one of them is resilient.  Determined (and desperate) to get air-born again, REX re-assembled his now disfigured, Big Ugly Green Flying Contraption, not even Wile E. Coyote would feel safe in, using scotch-tape, Woody's Band-Aids, shoe laces, chewing gum and lots of spray paint.

But with Pittsburgh lacking their most potent anti Air-Sanchez machine; Troy Polamalu, the Jets flew their formation under the cover and concealment of bad weather.  They zeroed in on-target, dropped their payload and stuck their mark; The Playoffs.  Their tenth, and what everyone thought would be an unlikely win, ensured the Jets of their second consecutive post-season birth under Coach Rex.

Coach Rex and his team's vision is still in sight.  It's just been a little harder to spot lately because of all the flack and smoke.  Miraculously, they dodged a lot of bullets but also took a lot of hits.  Their pilot Mark Sanchez is a walking casualty from last game.  He'll be a go for next Sunday, but the question is how badly is he hurting?

If you listen to stories told by our aging great heroes of WWII and the ones told by the Bomber Pilots of the amazing Flying Fortress' in particular, they always say those plains were indestructible.  Sometimes they were dumbfounded how their bird stayed air-born, much less getting them home in the face of such incredibly bad odds, while sustaining disheartening destruction to their craft.

Somehow, Rex continues to absorb all this team's flack.  And now, unfortunately, there is a whole new launch of smart bombs he needs to take evasive maneuvers against with new revelations of "Foot-Gate".  I myself could care less and you're not getting anything out of me.  That's between him and what I can assume is his happily married wife.  Period.  With everything the Jets have been through as far as getting put through the media wringer and embarrassments on the field, I hope something like this doesn't linger around and cloud the fact that no matter what kind of sling or arrow you shoot his way, there's no denying one thing....Someone; many; all fans called for a Gut-Check and the Jets responded.

Coach Rex has the Jets FLYING HIGH AGAIN..!

PIGSKIN ~ WEEK 15 ~ N.Y. JETS; A TOGA PARTY?

Updated.

NFL ~ THREE WEEKS LEFT TO 2010 REGULAR SEASON.

What happened to my bountiful basket of BAGELS?

In addition to getting the Cleveland Browns wrong every week this year, my latest trend now is to do horribly in the early games and closing the gap with the afternoon games.

SEASON STATS:
BAGEL COUNT = +9
SHMEAR of the WEEK = 8-4

PRE-GAME STRETCH:
* Eagles vs. GIANTS; Battle of the NFC bEAST.
* The Giants can get a huge assist from New England today as they play the Packers without their QB.
* I think things are about to get a lot worse for the Jets.
* It would be sweet if the Ravens could beat the Saints!
* How will the Jets respond with adversity staring them in the face?
** It's going to be stupid, ridiculous cold Monday night in Minnesota for Vikings/Bears.  It's gonna be great!

The WEEK 15 Big BAGEL Roll-Out:
(NYDN Saturday Line)

GIANTS -3 (Eagles)
What doomed the Giants last time they played was 5 NYG turn-overs.  I expect that number to come down.  The running game is rushing with impact.  Eli only needs to do "just enough".
LOSS ~ 38-31 Eagles

STEELERS -6 (Jets)
I fully expect the Jets to lose their third game in a row.  Mark Sanchez is in for a hell of an afternoon.
LOSS ~ 22-17 Jets

Chiefs -1 (RAMS)
I really would like to take the Rams here, but I can't.  The Chiefs are trying to secure their division title.  They'll be up for this and bounce back.
WIN ~ 27-13 Chiefs

Texans +1 1/2 (TITANS)
Did you see the way Houston moved the ball on the Ravens last Monday night?
LOSS ~ 31-17 Titans

COLTS -5 (Jaguars)
Garrett is out for the Jags and Peyton is in for the Colts.  Peyton Manning will make sure the Colts are tied for the division lead by the end of the game.
WIN ~ 34-24 Colts

Cardinals +3 (PANTHERS)
Is there really such a thing as a favorite in this game?  Take the points and hope.
LOSS ~ 19-12 Panthers

Browns +1 1/2 (BENGALS)
You know the routine by now.  I haven't picked a single Browns game correctly all season.  Go the other way!
LOSS ~ 19-17 Bengals

Bills +5 1/2 (DOLPHINS)
I am only looking for the Bills to keep the game closer than 5 1/2.
WIN ~ 17-14 Bills

COWBOYS -7 (Redskins)
Coach Shanahan benched QB Donovan McNabb.  The Redskins are miserable.
LOSS ~ 33-30 Cowboys

BUCS -5 1/2 (Lions)
This game could get very ugly.  If you stay awake until the third quarter, you really love Football.
LOSS ~ 23-20 Lions  O.T.

Saints +2 (RAVENS)
See TEXANS vs. TITANS game.  If Matt Schaub (TEX) can do what he did against the Ravens, Drew Brees should be able to move the ball also.
LOSS ~ 30-24 Ravens

Falcons -6 (SEAHAWKS)
Because there is no reason to doubt the Falcons now.
WIN ~ 34-18 Falcons

RAIDERS -7 (Broncos)
For decades the home team was always favored by three points in this match-up.  The Broncos are horrible.  The Raiders in a romp.
WIN ~ 39-23 Raiders

Patriots -13 (PACKERS)
That's a lot of wood.  Rogers will miss the game for the Packers.  But even a snow storm against a very stingy Chicago defense couldn't slow Tom Brady down.
* Night

That's 14 more BAGELS into the oven.

SHMEAR of the WEEK: (8-4)
*COWBOYS -7 (Redskins)
**LOSS**

POST GAME COMMENTS:
* GIANTS lose.  What an incredible meltdown.
* Jets beat the Steelers!
* Giants get help ~ Saints Lose; Bucs Lose
* I got the Browns game wrong again!!  Remain perfect.

* The Basket of BAGELS has dwindled down to +3.

Titled:  NFC EAST SHOWDOWN; If EAGLES DARE

NEW YORK JETS (9-4):

A Toga Party?

The Boys from DELTA HOUSE are staring expulsion in the face if they don't pass this next test against the Steelers in Pittsburgh; a place where they have never successfully partied before.  Good luck guys, you're gonna need it. Just remember, "It wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor."

Forget about the fake answers in the dumpster.  That's the Jets' problem in the first place.  Everyone thinks they're a fake now. So instead....,  This Sunday requires a real stupid gesture be done on some-one's part.... And you're just the guys to do it!  Because if the Jets don't get it done Sunday, Dean Wormer is sure to drop the "Big One" on the Jets' season, for sure.

Heading into Week 15 we find the Jets in a nose dive they need to pull-out of faster than BLUTO can down a bottle of Jack Daniel's, before all their playoff and Super Bowl aspirations get taken away in a U-Haul, even including all the games they didn't steal.

They now have three short weeks or maybe just three hours this Sunday to regain control and their composure so as to correct this free fall they find themselves in.  Dean Wormer is serious this time.

Things couldn't have gone more wrong for the Jets than they have over the last two weeks.  They've lost their last two games by a combined score of 55-9 to the Patriots and the Dolphins.  Their Coaching, the Quarterback, the team's preparedness, their skill level and even this season's earlier successes have all been called into question.  To make matters even worse, the Jets have had to deal with "WALL-GATE" which invariably caused the Jets' professionalism to be called into question as well.

ANIMAL HOUSE opened up for business when they signed on for HARD KNOCKS.  They've been blustery, bodacious, boastful, and quite unapologetic about how they've been perceived since.  All the Green DELTA Frat Brothers blissfully followed the dictates of their brash Delta Leader...;

Coach Rex BLUTARSKY.  This season long TOGA PARTY was his idea.  REX was the first one to yell ALLIGATOR!!!

Well, Double Secret Probation time is over.

The scroll of charges brought against Gang Green's ANIMAL HOUSE for the purposes of revoking their CHARTER reads as follows:

* FALSIFICATION of ORIGINAL CHARTER DOCUMENTS ~ Coach Blutarsky originally and continually declared this a "Ground and Pound" Fraternity.  They have been nothing of the kind.  They are running the ball almost 20% less this season that they did last year.  Shonn Greene continues to be under-utilized as the Jets continue to invest false hope in a resurgence from LT.  They have disguised the fact they haven't been Ground and Pound since Leon Washington and Thomas Jones last rushed for them.

* ETHICS VIOLATIONS ~ Charged with employing OPERATION GREEN-WALL.  ~  A Strength and Conditioning Coach would take it upon himself to coordinated a little band of Green Sideline Gremlins without the Head Coach's knowledge is a little far fetched.

* FAILURE TO MAINTAIN PERFORMANCE STANDARDS ~  Bad decisions and mental gaffes have sabotaged Coach Blutarsky's Green Bomber Fleet.  *Starting the game by going no-huddle against Bill Belichick showed a complete lack of originality.  Likewise when the Jets employed the WildCat against the Dolphins.  That's not GROUND AND POUND... That's Smoke and Mirror tactics.  *Two times on Special Teams the Jets were caught with too few players on the field; once against N.E. and last week again versus Miami.  *In that game against Miami, the decision to spike the ball on first down came from the sidelines.  *Coach REX's usage of his Challenges have been nothing short of confounding.  *The over-all Offensive Game Plan has been simplistic; the receiving has been substandard and the quarterback has shown every bit of his minimal and still lacking experience.  Coach REX Blutarsky and Coach HOOVER Schottenheimer must be held accountable.

*And the most egregious charge of all ~ CHEESE BURGERS ON THE FIELD!!  Decorum does not permit me to explain further.

If Coach REX doesn't get this Jet Plane flying right again, it will truly have been, "Seven Years of College Down The Drain!"  All that will be missing are the two pencils up his nostrils when Dean Wormer calls him into the office, and the Real Life Media tears him a "new one".

But for his sake, I hope BIG TALK Blutarsky can conjure up something as inappropriate as the EAT ME float and something as equally threatening and frightening as the DEATHMOBILE when they head to The Steel City.

When it's time to "Cut the Cake", will the Jets be able to unleash mayhem and chaos through the streets of downtown Pittsburgh all the way to Heinz Field and ruin everyone wearing Black and Gold's day?  OR, will they be the Beauty who got caught hiding behind the car in her bra and panties when Bluto made his get-away, driving off leaving everything behind him in smoke?

We're going to find out.  This could turn out to be "One of the greatest days of their lives" and have all their fans back home jumping up and yelling, "Oh Boy! This is great!" OR,  the Jets might wind up leaving their fans feeling like the Mayor of Faber felt amidst all the bedlam at the parade when he learned his wife was unfaithful and when he was introduced to the other college punk who molested his fifteen year old daughter and got her pregnant.

That's an awful lot to put on Mark Sanchez' shoulders against the Steelers.  But that's the situation the Jets find themselves in.  Quarterback Kid needs to bail-out his Coach.  This can be a great story if he can pull out a win for Bluto.  But Coach REX and Coach Schottenheimer need to be way better and help out their quarterback also.

It looks like Mark Sanchez and PITT's Troy Polamalu won't have to stare each-other down in a game of chicken to see who blinks first.  Troy may miss the game with a leg injury.  Somehow Coach Schottenheimer HAS to make that work towards his and the Jets' advantage.

The Jets visit the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday.  In my opinion, this game couldn't come at a worse time.  But one of the truest tests in life is how you respond when faced with adversity.  The schedule makers don't care about Gut Check games.  They're about the only one's though.

We're going to see if this Toga Party was worth it.
