The Yankees haven't faded from the picture yet.
Persevering through rain and extra innings, Staten Island knotted their best of three series with a ten inning, 3-2 road victory over the Spikes.
The Yankees mainatined a precarious 2-0 lead through eight innings, but no more. In the 9th, State College shortstop Tommy Edman singled home the game's tying runs.
With rain increasing in intensity, the umpires called for the tarp. After a 46 minute rain delay, Yankees third baseman Drew Bridges greeted reliever Brady Owen by depositing an offering over the right/center field fence, giving the Yankees a 3-2 lead.
Yanks reliever Trevor Lane pitched a scoreless 9th inning for a desperately needed save.
The rubber game is scheduled for Friday evening in Happy Valley. The winner will advance into the NYPL final series and face the Hudson Valley Renegades who defeated the Lowell Spinners in two straight.
