World Baseball Classic Comes to Brooklyn: Pakistan vs. Brasil in WBC Qualifier

Brazil * Great Britain * Israel * Pakistan

Pakistan  ~  Brazil

Team Pakistan

Despite suffering a 10-0 seven inning (mercy rule) whitewashing at the hands of Team Brazil in Thursday's opening match of the final WBC Qualifier, the gentlemen from Pakistan performed very well, having absolutely nothing to hang their heads over.

Pakistan's club is comprised solely of home grown players, with not an MLB affiliated player among them.  In fact, several or more of their players are transformed cricket players.  But what I viewed Thursday afternoon was a seemingly smooth operating and competent team.

The brain trust in charge of Team Brazil consists of manager and Hall of Famer Barry Larkin, pitching coach LaTroy Hawkins, and hitting coach Steve Finley.

#11-Barry Larkin; #32-LaTroy Hawkins; #12 Steve Finley

Team Brazil

Team Brazil right fielder Juan Carlos Muniz slides head first into home,
completing an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the 5th inning.

Brasil      10
