Yea, another McGwire post, Just Wondering. Sandy Alderson

Sandy Alderson was on MLB Channel the day after the Mark McGwire confession broke.   He like LaRussia share a similar thought.  They did not suspect McGwire of usage, unlike openly suggesting one or two others on that A's team did.  The former GM of the A's said on MLB Channel, he "suspected one or two others, but not McGwire" -

LaRussa has a similar train of thought.

Why do you suppose they are so willing to throw 'others' under the bus, and seem so willing to support Mark?  Hmmm?   I have lotsa ideas on that.  But I was just wondering.

The NY Daily News on March 13, 2005 had an expose' about McGwire's alleged usage of PED's.

...finally, I think I'm done getting on McGwire.  Time to get on with things.  I know I said that before.

PUFF the MUTANT SLUGGER, I'm sorry too.

Sorry Mark, as fans, this is all we really have. You get to bask in the limelight, hug the Maris family, and walk away with million$ earned. It's impossible to ever get 38,000 ticket holders to boycott any given game. Sure we could boo and heckle. We can create props to dishearten you with, like Boston does to perfection usually with A-Rod (good job BeanTown!!! The blond haired girl mask still cracks me up!!). But really? This is all we have; and our apathy, if any, because most of the time, it's about the ring and 'things' get over looked.

It took you 9 years since your retirement to come up with that? I can get a better grip on this from a mime. You spoke as you have not before. But you didn't really say anything. Actually I'm insulted by your selective memory and your bold assertions steroids played no role in your homerun prowess. Could you ponder for a second, if steroids kept you healthier and on the field more consistantly, isn't that in itself an assist versus the prospect of another lost year to injury and lost playing time, thus reducing your homerun totals and perhaps your homerun per at-bat ratio?

Uh...no!...according to you. Good training, self improvemnt, hitting comprehension and good DNA were what enabled you to hit homeruns at your pace, and wall scraping distances.

You insult my intelligence; everyone's! Yet knowing full well you were a fraud when you embraced the Maris Family's want to share with you, I need to hear you say you're sorry now with the crocodile tears for effect. If that's your prefered choice to reconcile, fine. I'm not bitter. Not at all. It's just that you and your select contemporaries got to have the time of your lives, and are set for life to boot. But you couldn't give us fans something back that wouldn't have put you out one penny. It's called respect; Respect for the Game, and for Henry Chadwick's sake, respect for the Maris Family. So where you once you had it all, all I have is this blog. You danced and partied all night on our record books, drunk with enhancement. Now we are left behind not only footing the bill, but cleaning up the mess too.

Happy coaching Mark. Excuse me while I have some fun at your expense, considering you cheated, on my dime!  Sorry dude...but this comes with the territory.

Like I said, sorry Mark.  I made a stupid mistake and yes, I was drinking Snapple while I posted this.
I deeply regret my actions and wish I had never been able to blog over the last 15 minutes. I'm looking foward to working harder to be less foregiving in the face of  Adaciousness and be all the Blogger I can be.
Happy Coaching and maybe you can get the RedBirds to shorten their swing, like you did once.

Rings hollow doesn't it?

Canseco and the MONSTER

So Jose Canseco,

Mr. Vindicated himself,

The Daniel Boone of the Steroid Era,

The Capt. (K)Jerk of the Star-Juicing Federation of Cheats,

Bluto, to Mark McGwire's Popeye, said.....,

Jose said "PUFF the MUTANT SLUGGER", McGwire, wasn't being forthright with us yesterday basically calling him a liar.

Jose, Go'way, Jose has been the most truthful person of the whole steroid era. Everything the Oracle at Gold's Gym has said thus far, rang true. Why should we stop believing him now? I wouldn't trust him to mail a letter for me. But he has an axe to grind and we are the beneficiaries. Think about it, most of what we do know about the Steroid Era has either been leaked, as in THE LIST and the Balco investigation, AND whatever JOSE noway! Canseco has told us.

Which gets me back to Puff the Mutant Slugger.

Popeye told Bob Costas that the Steroids didn't help him hit a single home run. He learned his craft and studied and worked hard and was given good DNA, so says him. The steroids were to keep him healthy and on the field.

Really? Really.....really. Really? C'MON!

We waited nine years for this? This is the best he could do after nine years? Really? Really!?

He didn't remember what he took. Typical. He only did HGH one or two times. Typical. He only did it to come back from injury and sustain health. Typical Typical Typical. Check Check Check.. There is a motif in the Genesis here folks. Andy Pettitte and Popeye using the same ruse. Don't forget folks, we had to shake the truth out of Dear Lovable Andy....TWICE! I digress. A-ROD used his LOOSEY GOOSEY time line and stressed about living up to a contract. Yea, whatever.

Whatever DUDES!

Folks I bring you the case for Frankenstein, the Innocent.

Bud Selig is Dr.Frankenstein and his trusty lab assisstant Igor, Donald Fehr. The two together are The Louis and Clark of the Steroid Era, Captain Chaos and his sidekick Confusion, allowing Players to boldly go where no record has gone before. I digress again. Pardon.

You know the legendary tale of Frankenstein, apply here!....so I don't have to get too detailed with this analogy. I'll get right to the heart of this legendary classic we call Frankenstein and the MONSTER we call the Steroid Era. The cast is being played out by players of the much broader ERA I call the Marvin Miller Effect, who because of the money secured to them through agents like Scott Boras, and owners who were always afraid mostly of they themselves, created an environment that pervades all aspects of Baseball and brings us to today. Part of that blanket statement I just made means these players live in fantasy land and believe they exists on a totally different realm than you and me. We the Plebs are just that, bottom of the status ladder. The bottom bottom bottom line why we pay so much to go to a game is because they make they salaries they do, the owners agree to it, and pass the cost off to us. Somehow we blindly agree to this social contract. Of course a few bad apples spoil it for everyone. Of course. 90% are very quite normal. but we don't care about them. We only care about the one's who destroyed our record books like Godzilla trampling through Tokyo. So, we kinda helped create this MONSTER.

But grab pitch-fork in hand and torch too. Because the Monster we didn't mind too much about at first, has gotten out of control and destroyed our hallowed records as we once knew them. Frankenstein the Monster caused the loss of that little girl's life when they played with lillies by the pond.

Here's the whole difference folks. Dr.Frankenstein's MONSTER was innocent. The monster didn't realize it was doing anything wrong when it threw the little girl into the pond. Clever editing prevents us from knowing what really happened in the movie huh? But these players knew.  They knew exactly what they were doing, when they were doing it, how they were doing it,  with who they were doing it, what cycle they should be on, knew the pronounciation of every syllable of every steriod, etc etc...

That makes Frankenstein's Monster Innocent and OUR MLB MONSTERS, guitly.

KILL THE MONSTER!!!!

1999 - 2009 Then & Now.......DOH!

There once was a day when baseball players looked closer to this,

...than the players of today.  But then a real "Loosey Goosey Time" and counter-culture took root with-in the beautifully manicured fields of baseball green in parks across America, primarily because of:

...And by 1999 many players were using...

Players thought this stuff just the coolest thing ever.  After all, they're all just young and stupid right?  Anyway, it made them go from feeling like...

...especially in the dog days of August, to feeling like....

So a bunch of these guys, drunk with their new super powers took bat in hand and proceeded to point, laugh and mock Baseball in 1999.  Forty-four players hit over 30 home runs.  Thirteen players hit 40 plus home runs.  Two players hit over 60 home runs.  Whew...Hot diggity-Dog!!  If we didn't know any better we'd say they swung a bat like.....

McGwire 65   Sosa 63   Griffey 48   Palmeiro 47   C.Jones 45
GREG friggin VAUGHN 45!!!
Delgado 44   Manny 44   Bagwell 42   S.Green? 42   V.Guerrero 42
A-Rod 42   Piazza 40
31 other players hit over 30 in the year 1999.  The Artist Originally Known as Prince wrote that song just for them.

Fast-foward ten years.  You are there, 2009.  The season ends with no one hitting over 60 home runs or
50 home runs.  Five players hit over 40.

Pujols 47   Fielder 46   Howard 45
M.Reynolds 44   & A.Gonzalez 40.
twenty-five more players hit over 30 home runs.

I gave you the numbers.  You do the math.

Greg Vaughn?   Ged 'oudda heeya wit d'at!!!  Ya gotta be kiddin me!!
