SEPTEMBER 20, 2012

The circular video board embedded inside the open eye of Barclays Center's marquee is now fully operational.  Overnight, finishing touches to the entrance plaza will be completed.  Or at least they better be.  For on Friday, September 21st, the Nets' team and arena principles, politicians, and select guests, will assemble for Ribbon Cutting ceremonies.

The folks at McBrooklyn did some number crunching regarding the two billionaires and two multi-millioniares who will be on hand, and the combined $41 billion dollars their respective wallets pack.  Apparently Borough President Marty Markowitz isn't doing too badly for himself.

Bruce Ratner's opposition, critics, and the groups who took on Brooklyn's downtown real estate magnate; or at the very least tried holding Bruce Ratner accountable; will also be on hand to voice their protestations to the very end.  On a side note, my micro antagonist friend Eric has announced team No Land Grab will conclude their efforts next week.  But that tabloid writers such as Denis Hamill and Andrea Peyser had better watch out because they will still be on alert for pertinent  material they deem galling.  Me, I'm a fan.  But I guess I better watch my step too..., hmm?

They were too busy taking cheap shots at yours truly to realize in the grand scheme of things, I think what they do (or did) is necessary.  I want them to continue squeezing the best possible Atlantic Yards project Brooklyn can get out of Ratner.  Don't shut it down guys.  Keep it up.

I will be there however, when they swing the doors open for the Nets first season in Barclays Center, and revel.  I'd even be inclined to buy you a beer.
