WEEK 2 ~ PIGSKIN

NEW YORK GIANTS NOTES:

The Giants head to Indianapolis for a Sunday Night game.  If the Giants aren't playing at 1:00 pm on Sundays, I'm not happy.  I don't want my team playing on Sunday Nights, Monday Nights, Thursday Nights or even Friday Mornings.  But that's just me.  I like it better when the Nation finds us boring and under-estimates us.

I shared my Giants thoughts going into this game with the Colts earlier in the week.  You can catch up with those HERE in my WEEK 2 thoughts.

Bottom line: I put this game squarely on the shoulders of Brandon Jacobs.  I put the onus on him this week.  I explain why in my (linked) previous posting

NEW YORK JETS NOTES:

The Jets Offense can not be futile to the point the other team has the ball for damn nearly 40 minutes.  The vaunted D-Generation REX Defense can not withstand that kind of a work load.  At some time the Jets need to let Mark Sanchez be what he is and what he was drafted to be; a Quarterback.  I'm not going to get long winded about this.  But is has everything with taking him off the leash; taking off the training wheels and letting him try to make plays.  The Giants took their shots with Eli learning his way.  The Cowboys once went 1-15 with Troy Aikman.  They allowed him to learn his craft by not curbing his learning process; but by letting him be a quarterback.

Let Mark Sanchez develop.  Let him make all the mistakes he needs.  The sooner he learns his craft the sooner the Jets will reap the benefits.

I understand this team is built to win now and this group may not be able to withstand a drawn out training process.  I get that.  But philosophically, if you want him to develop into a quarterback you have to treat him like a quarterback.

Using Saturday's NYDN's line, it's time for BETTING WITH BAGELS.

Late week I went 6-8 on the slate.  I hit my Lock of the Week which is a 3 Bagel game.  So I finished at Positive One Bagel for the week.  But I feel like such a loser.  I'm looking to make up some Bagels with this week's picks.

Happy FOOTBALL Sunday

Sunday, 4 pm Game
N.E. Patriots  14
VS.
NEW YORK JETS  28
Final

BTB NOTES:
Mark Sanchez was off the chain today; freed of his shackles.
Today Coach Schotts let Mark Sanchez be a quarterback;
21 completions; 30 attempts; 220 yards
3 TOUCHDOWNS; 0 INT's
Truth is Sanchez' day could have been better were it not for some early drops.

RUSHING:
L. Tomlinson ~ 11 rushes; 76 yards and S. Greene ~ 15 rushes; 52 yards
combined ~ 26 rushes for 128 yards.

RECIEVING:
D. Keller  7 receptions for 115 yards; TD

DEFENSE:
Second straight game D-Generation REX holds opponent under 15 points.
Cromartie toasted early; got INT late.
Jets harassed Brady throughout game.
Defense picked off two Brady passes.
Randy Moss held to 2 receptions for 38 yards; however 1 TD ~ on a magnificent one handed grab that he never bothered covering up with his other hand.  It was an insane catch that toasted Revis and Derrell was done shortly after that.

REVIS ISLAND:
Marooned with a barking hamstring.

OVERALL:
Damn good showing by the JETS.

REX was all smiles after the game.
There's one reason why they won today; Mark Sanchez.
But give the D a lot (a lot) of credit too.
Jets held the ball for almost 33:00 minutes but more importantly put up 28 points.
That's almost 10 less minutes the Jets' D was on the field than last week;
That's key.

2010 Season Record now 1-1

Sunday, 8 pm Game
NEW YORK GIANTS   14
VS.
Indianapolis Colts          38

So far this is a complete wipe-out.
Can the Giants look any worse?

Brandon Jacobs is in big big trouble!
What a knucklehead!

My next Giants post is forth-coming on why
Brandon Jacobs is...
