Brooklyn Cyclones Fading With Fifteen To Go

Father Time is no longer allied with the Cyclones, not after what transpired this past week at Vermont.  When Brooklyn first visited Burlington back in July they were jockeying with Hudson Valley and Aberdeen for first place of the McNamara Division, but also held a firm grip on the wild card.  During that series the Cyclones limit Vermont to just one run per game en route to a three game sweep.  This time around Brooklyn is swept, as the Lake Monsters outscore the Cyclones by an overall 29-12 margin.  In turn the Brooks fall 3.5 games back of first place Hudson Valley in the McNamara Division standings, and one game behind West Virginia for the wild card.  After posting a 16-13 record in July, the Cyclones have so far gone 7-8 in August.  They're now losers of four straight, and with fifteen games remaining in the regular season appear to be fading fast.

Maybe a long quiet ride home through the night, a six hour bus trip with which to contemplate their near future is just what they needed - a team and their collective thoughts traversing three hundred miles of empty road.  My guess is the Cyclones arrived home in the neighborhood of six this morning.  But there's no rest for the weary as time is running short.  They open a three game series against the Tri-City Valley Cats Saturday afternoon Coney Island.

Let's go Cyclones!
