New York Mets: Pete Alonso Announces His Presence With Authority.

National League pitchers beware.  That Pete Alonso is a bad man.  Noah Syndergaard dubbed him the Polar Bear, adding, "He's a violent creature."  Alonso even told the POST on Sunday, "I wanna feel dangerous.."
  • Spring Training: 25 for 71 (.352/.387/.620), five doubles, four home runs, eleven RBI.
After going 1 for 4 in his major league debut on Thursday, Pete Alonso wrapped up his first major league series batting 6 for 12 (.500/.571/.750), with three doubles, and a team leading three RBI.

If he keeps this up, Brodie Van Wagenen may be required to register him at the local precinct.

Alonso, 24-years old, split last season demoralizing both Eastern and Pacific Coast League pitchers.  Considering his batting average dipped 54-points from Binghamton (.314) to Las Vegas (.260), he nonetheless finished up slashing .285/.395/.579/1.012, with 31 doubles, 36 home runs, and 119 RBI through 132 games and a combined 478 at-bats.  In 282 career minor league games (1,038 at-bats) Alonso slashed .287/.377/.555/.932, with 65 home runs and 230 RBI.
Pitchers will adjust.  Let's see if he adjusts along with them.

CHALK ONE UP FOR JACOB deGROM

Congratulations to deGrom for his first victory of the season.  Out-dueling Washington's Max Scherzer, last year's Cy Young award winner pitches six scoreless innings, allowing just five hits and one walk, while striking out ten.

I'm very copacetic with Jacob's contract.  I'm glad both parties were able to reach an agreement.  It's a rewarding deal for deGrom, and isn't prohibitive for the club, and fans keep their shining star.
