Brooklyn Cyclones Will Have To Wait Till Next Year

BROOKLYN CYCLONES: Five Game Losing Streak Results In Elimination, Making It Time To Recite The Ol' Brooklyn Refrain Again....

The Brooklyn Cyclones did themselves no favors, bowing out of New York-Penn League playoff contention with an ill timed five game losing streak.  After enduring a long arduous, yet gamely  struggle to ascend from last place in the McNamara Division early in the season, to first place on August 28th, the Cyclones lost last Friday's game against the Staten Island Yankees, then dropped a two game showdown against then second place Aberdeen to fall 1.5 games back of the Iron Birds, with just three left to play in the regular season.  The Cyclones moved on to Troy, New York for their last series of the season, where Brooklyn proceeded to lose two straight to the Tri City Valley Cats, eliminating them from this year's post-season play.

Completing their twelfth regular season of existence, the Aberdeen Iron Birds clinched their first division title with their own victory over the Lowell Spinners, and will make the club's first ever playoff appearance.  By the same token, with two straight victories over the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Tri City Valley Cats clinched the Stedler Division title over Lowell.

All teams will close out the regular season on Wednesday.  The Cyclones will enter tomorrow's finale against the Tri City Valley Cats with a 37-37 record.  A victory would at least give the club a .500 season.

The Jamestown Jammers head into the season finale with a one game lead in the Wild Card standings over the Lowell Spinners.  Aberdeen will host Lowell again, while Jamestown will host the State College Spikes.

For Brooklyn Cyclones fans, it's wait till next year.
