LONG ISLAND DUCKS:
It's Time To Be Mighty Ducks Again

Let the games begin!  The 2012 Atlantic League playoffs kick off tonight.

In the Liberty Division semi final series, the South Maryland Blue Crabs won the second half title, and will face the Long Island Ducks, who secured the first half flag.  The Ducks opted to start the series on the road, and play Games Four and Five at The Pond.  Just so you know, first half winners have that option.  Long Island won the first half with a 39-30 record.  They slumped miserably in the second half of the season however, and finished in last place with a 24-44 record.  The South Maryland Blue Crabs took just the opposite approach.  They finished the first half in last place with a 30-40 record.  They surged in the second half however, and posted a 39-30 mark.

In the Freedom Division, the second half ended in a tie.  But in this case, the tie goes to Lancaster.  The Barnstormers are this Fall's prohibitive favorites.  They swept the season winning both half titles.  The Barnstormers finished with a 45-25 first half record, and a 43-27 mark in the second half.  The York Revolution are the Atlantic League's reigning back to back champions.  This year they  enter the post-season as the Freedom Division Wild Card winner.  York posted a 36-34 first half mark, and finished tied with Lancaster with a 43-27 second half effort.

Last season, the York Revolution defeated the Long Island Ducks to capture their second consecutive title.  Lancaster won the 2006 Atlantic League title.  The Long Island Ducks captured the 2004 flag.  And Southern Maryland is still trying to win their first.

OVERALL REGULAR SEASON RECORDS:
Lancaster Barnstormers               88-52
York Revolution                           79-61
Southern Maryland Blue Crabs     69-71
Long Island Ducks                       63-74
