Long Island University Black Birds: Taking Flight... It's Off to Virginia for "Tip-Off Tourney Time".
Brooklyn's Flatbush Avenue cagers lost their first game of the season 89-71 to Hofstra last Friday. LIU's Jamal Olasewere led Brooklyn scorers with 13-points. Guard Jason Brickman followed with 11-points. C.J. Garner had a team high six assists.
Next for the Black Birds, the 2011 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic Tournament starts Monday, November 14th in Norfolk, Virginia, where LIU will play Old Dominion in the first of a series of Tournament games. They will then head to University Park, to play Penn State Wednesday night. And after a game against Radford next Saturday, LIU's participation in the Tournament concludes Sunday, Nov. 20th, against Marist/Vermont in Connecticut.
The Long Island Black Birds will not make their Flatbush Avenue/Wellness Center debut until December 1st, when they take on Wagner in what will also be their first in-conference match-up
This just in: The Knicks and Nets were inactive yesterday. They will not be playing Monday either. That is all.
