The Dominican Republic are Kings of Caribbean Baseball in 2010

Los Leones de Escogido,

the Dominican Republic's Baseball League Champions
and D.R.'s representative in the Serie Caribe
are
Champions of the Caribbean Series
They defeated Venezuela in the series clinching game.

Fernando Martinez,
the 21 year old outfielder for the Mets was named Series MVP.
He batted .348 in the series with 2 home runs.
D.R. avoided a winner-take-all game against
Puerto Rico.

The Dominican Republic captured it's 18th caribbean series crown; the most of any participant.
Puerto Rico is second with 14 Championships.

(1953 Serie program)

If you would like to watch the last out and the on field celebration click the link I uploaded to YouTube:

Here are three links that covered all the action and whom deserve credit for their coverage.
Check them out if you want to see the series wrap-up.
And that's a wrap from the Caribbean Leagues, Serie host Venezuela and the Isla de Margarita.

Thanks to those of you who checked in on the updates.  This was my way of dealing with the winter blahs and avoiding Baseball Withdrawals.

Consider this your last update.
Next stop...Spring Training!
